The genuinely confident, shiny person with only the right fucks to give you see today? It took me 50+ years and almost blowing up my entire world in all the wrong ways to become her.

I’ll spare you the long story that’s sadly not all the unusual…

Hi! I’m Jen Vertanen and I learned how to stop hating myself so I could become the person I am today. 

Who am I? Me. All of me. 

The me who is fully too much and not enough for others.

The me who always has my back no matter what is going on in my world.

The me who only gives fucks to things I deeply, deeply care about.

I no longer try to fit in. 

I no longer spend time trying to make people like me.

I no longer try to hide my charming awkwardness, my neurodiversity, my tender heart, my sexuality, or any other part of me.

You either love me or don’t…I make your choice easy.

I’m not an asshole but also? I’m no longer here to make someone else comfortable by being someone I’m not.

This way of being is the ULTIMATE freedom and helps me stay focused on living my best damn life and making the impacts only I can make.

We the Unruly was created to help others do the same.

We the Unruly exists to fan the flames of every woman & femme who’s done contorting themselves to fit a world that was never built for us.

We’re here to burn the rulebook, take up unapologetic space, and build a future where ‘too much’ is code for just getting started because people shining their damn lights is what's going to help heal the world. This is where power meets rebellion, identity meets liberation, and belonging is built by the unruly.
